Doug Jones To Star In WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS!

That’s the forthcoming television series, set to appear on FX, if’n you didn’t know. This news makes me feel a lot better about the show’s prospects. When I first heard that they were going to be turning the instant classic Horror/Comedy film into a TV series, I was equally excited and worried. The actors from the film won’t be reprising their roles for the series. How could it possibly work, then? At least Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement are serving as executive producers, Clement is writing the script, and Waititi (who just introduced himself to the mainstream by helming a little movie called THOR: RAGNAROK) will direct. And now they’ve got Doug Jones (who also forced the “normal” world to take notice recently with his performance as the Amphibian Man in a little Oscar-nominated movie entitled THE SHAPE OF WATER). Jones is no stranger to vampires. He played both The Master and one of the Ancients on THE STRAIN, and stars in the title role in the (hopefully) soon to be released remake of NOSFERATU.

As of right now, WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS is just a pilot. Here’s hoping FX decides to take a bigger bite and orders a full season.
