Dracula and Frankenstein, Together Again

When it comes to records, literal records, being back on store shelves, I have a twofold reaction. When I see the prices that today’s hipsters are paying for these records, I just chuckle and shake my head. On the other hand, it makes me smile for a different reason. Being old enough to remember, barely, when records were out on shelves the first time around, it punches the nostalgia button for me. Not enough that I’d ever consider buying one of those records, mind you, but enough to make me smile. The new Frankenstein “Spinature” figure, though, designed to sit atop a turntable and spin? That makes me want to buy not only a record, but a record player, just so I could put the Spinature to work.

Author Dacre Stoker, grand-nephew of DRACULA author Bram Stoker, is working with artists Elsenior Fox, Javier Alcantara, and Erik Serrato H in the creation of a new Dracula figure, based on the physical descriptions provided by Bram Stoker in the novel. It’s adorable and awesome and I must have it. It isn’t designed to sit atop a turntable and spin as a record spins, but it doesn’t need to. It’s impressive enough as it is.
