Okay, here we go. The first trailer for the forthcoming DRACULA series starring Claes Bang as the legendary aristocratic vampire. (Nice timing, BBC, although it would have been even better if the trailer had dropped on Halloween night!) Let’s watch it together, shall we? Click here and give it a gander. I’m about to do the exact same thing. Honestly. This is the first time I’ve watched it, as I’m typing these words. My reaction to it will be my immediate reaction. I will write down my first thoughts with no later editing. Ready? Let’s do it!

Oh. Damn. That’s all we get? I want more. That looks good. Gooooooooooood. Yeah, it’s got my appetite all whetted, my curiosity suitably piqued. Everything looks incredible. I wanted a better look at Dracula, though. It’s hard to tell from just that one brief image how Bang is going to fill out the cape. Gorgeous cinematography. Love the music. That thing with the fly in the eyeball made me wince. When do we get to see this show? (You all will probably get to see it before I do.) And only three episodes? Why not a whole season? The NBC DRACULA series managed to give us an entire season. I wonder how closely this one will stick to the book? I hope it doesn’t stick *that* closely. We know that story. It’s been told so many times now. I want them to do something original with it while keeping true to the spirit of the book.

Ima watch it again.
