Dracula vs. Dracula—Rapped
Watch this. While I don’t typically find these sorts of trendy Internet things as entertaining as do my friends, and seemingly everybody else, this one in particular I love. It isn’t just because it’s about Dracula, though. If it were about Dracula and it was stupid, I’d hate it. Being concerned with Dracula as its primary subject actually increases the pressure for any project, in terms of whether or not I will like it. I have higher expectations of things Dracula-related. This “Epic Rap Battle” between the historical Dracula, Vlad III of Wallachia, nicknamed “The Impaler,” and the fictional Count Dracula, is clever enough and cute enough to pass muster with me. Good on them.
I think my favorite part of the video is them giving the Count the stereotypical bad Transylvanian accent, complete with that clichéd “blah blah blah!” which, as Dracula in HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA correctly pointed out, Dracula never says. References to “Anne Rice cakes”, Count Chocula, Bunnicula, and the false factoid of Vlad dipping his bread into the blood of his victims, all squeezed into one short video. There’s genius at work, here. As for who won the “rap-off”, I think I’d have to give the edge to Dracula. How about you?
