Remember my review of KNUCKLE BALLED several weeks ago? Sure you do. This past week I heard from Mr. Stepek again; this time he was informing me that he has released the first book in the “Knuckler” series, of which KNUCKLE BALLED is obviously an installment, as an audio book. Working with the company Chilling Tales for Dark Nights, they were releasing a chapter a day. You could get them hot off the press, so to speak, provided you’d been there at the beginning and provided you were a quick enough reader. (And provided you wanted to actually read the book. But that’s sort of a given, isn’t it?)
I have not read KNUCKLE SUPPER so I can’t honestly give you a review, but having read the later installment (which, again, I’m sure you all remember, right?) I can give a preliminary recommendation. I think it’s all going to come down to the reading with this one. It’s going to require a good reader to capture Stepek’s writing style properly. Jason Hill of the Horror Hill podcast does the duties, and he manages it okay, based on the first chapter, which I listened to. You should check this out. It’s free. Can’t beat that deal with a stick.
