I kinda hate to give Elvira publicity, after learning of the way in which she screwed over Vampira, but she is newsworthy as far as vampires go, so I’ll bite the bullet and do my job. I just don’t have to like it.
There is a new Elvira, Mistress of the Dark comic book series coming out this summer from Dynamite Entertainment. You can check out some artwork here, and a look at the six different covers for the debut issue.
One way I can seek some online justice, though, for me, is to post something Vampira- related every time I post something Elvira-related. Here, then, pictured, is a supersized Vampira Halloween mask. It too is something of a rip-off, as the makers of the mask didn’t have permission to use Vampira’s image, but they aren’t calling it a Vampira mask. Instead it’s “Vampyra Girl.” This mask isn’t intended for wearing, though. (Can you with complete accuracy, then, call it a mask?) It’s wall art. 23 inches by 17 inches. One assumes it will be made of more sturdy plastic than your standard Ben Cooper-esque Halloween mask, the latter which, unfortunately, aren’t too durable. Considering it’ll run you $54.99, it’d better be durable!
