Not the National Organization of Women–but it would be funny if the forthcoming movie *was* based on them, considering groups like NOW have a history of not exactly loving the Horror movies. Remember that Nike commercial featuring a woman outrunning a slasher? It was yanked after some uptights, including, reportedly, people claiming to represent the NOW (or so I remember reading at the time), complained, thus proving that they didn’t get the joke. I thought the commercial was hilarious. It pokes fun at slasher film tropes. And considering the woman in the ad wins—she gets away—I didn’t and still don’t get the objections. Seems rather silly to me.
Anyway, there’s going to be another EVIL DEAD movie, called EVIL DEAD NOW. Will it be another remake? Supposedly this new film will have no connection to either the original or the excellent 2013 remake. That worries me. There’s only so many times you can do a do-over and it still work. They’ve already done a remake and it was awesome. Why do another? A completely different story with all new characters taking place in the same universe as either of the two prior films could work, but I fear the old “cabin in the woods” formula won’t float if they try it again. That milk cow has gone dry.
