You can click on this link, if you want to, to view the trailer for the forthcoming MORBIUS movie. I choose not to. I’m one of those old-fashioned types who prefers to watch movie trailers as they were intended, in movie theaters. Yes, you are at the mercy of the trailer gods and you seldom know when and where a trailer you want to see will appear, but that’s part of the magic. It makes it more special. It’s the way things used to be, back in the good old days. I will wait.
I can, however, comment on the alleged first image of Jared Leto as Michael Morbius. It’s not much to go on—not like, say, a trailer—but it, or Leto, if it’s really him, looks great. You can’t always tell from a trailer, anyway, if a movie is going to be any good. I desperately want it to be. Is it too much to hope for, to hope for another VENOM? Sure the critics hated it, but who cares? The audience loved it. When I went to see it, people were cheering and applauding. I want MORBIUS to be just as successful. I’d love to see Sony build their own little Marvel Universe with the character they have licensed—as long as they never use any of the characters from AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 again. Like never.
