The Vampire Diaries won’t return for a month – a month! April 25th is the day the show comes back with an all new episode. But it’s not just any episode, it’s the big backdoor pilot episode for The Vampire Diaries spinoff – The Originals. It’s two for one, it’s a new Vampire Diaries episode, but it’s also the first episode to the all-new show about The Original vampire family. Exciting, right? While we have a long wait for this episode, we do have some screenshots of it. Check them out below.
In this big episode, viewers will follow Klaus (Joseph Morgan) back to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — where he’s reunited with his diabolical former protégé, Marcel. Elijah, intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.
Phoebe Tonkin, formerly of The Secret Circle, who joined The Vampire Diaries this season in the annoying recurring role of werewolf Haley, will also star. Executive producer Julie Plec, who helped write the episode, is heading the spin-off with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo as executive producers.

So far Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) have signed onto the show.
If picked up by The CW, The Originals will begin airing in the fall of 2013. Yeah, the show hasn’t been confirmed yet. It all depends on how well the pilot does with fans.
