This past weekend, I dropped by my nearest Applebees restaurant to enjoy their Halloween-themed beverages, the Tipsy Zombie and the Dracula’s Juice. I didn’t consume them both, no; as I had my lovely wifey with me, I ordered one drink and she the other, then we swapped them back and forth. I found both delicious. I suppose I should have gone with the Dracula’s Juice as my favorite but honestly it was a toss-up. Plus the Tipsy Zombie had the little gummy brain floating in it. I don’t care for gummy candy usually, but after it had soaked up all the flavor of the drink it was most yummy.
Apparently my tolerance for alcohol has not diminished any despite it having been several years since I’ve had any (unless you count sips of wine taken during Holy Communion at church). Being a diabetic, my health dictated that I give up the ol’ devil’s blood, and as I was never a big drinker to begin with, it was easy to do. I didn’t feel any effect at all from the drink, though, so it would seem I am still not a cheap drunk.

Halloween-themed marketing works, dudes. While I dig Applebees and I’ve eaten there plenty of times, I can guarantee I wouldn’t have gone there this past weekend if it weren’t for the specialty drinks. I went specifically for that purpose. All you other businesses out there, if you want my patronage in October, offer up something Halloweenish. I’m a sucker for that kinda stuff.
