Here Come the Brides

The Brides of Dracula, that is. A new television series is in the works. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is the guy who had the crazy idea to reimagine the classic lineup of the ARCHIE comics as the cast of a Horror series. As absurd as it sounds, the idea worked, as RIVERDALE is now a successful TV series. (I confess that I have never watched it, but the fact that it’s still around qualifies it as a success.) ABC has ordered a pilot for a television series from Mr. Aguirre-Sacasa that will feature Dracula’s three wives.

From the linked article: “THE BRIDES is a family drama described as a sexy contemporary reimagining of DRACULA. The drama revolves around a trio of powerful female leads and features strong horror elements. ABC describes it as a vampire soap about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy—and their nontraditional family.” Hmm. You can’t really tell anything from that description. It could be wicked cool or it could be a trainwreck.

Apparently the series was supposed to go to NBC a few years back but it never made it to air. Hey, NBC’s loss could be ABC’s—and our—gain, provided the show is any good
