Humans, Vampires, Zombies and Aliens all Together in ‘The Kitchen Sink’

You wouldn’t think that a script about a human teenager, a vampire, and a zombie who must save their town from an alien invasion would actually be made into a movie, but believe it or not, it will be. The film idea is so out there and over the top that it has been appropriately titled “The Kitchen Sink,” in reference to the popular saying – “everything but the kitchen sink.” Oh boy.

Sony Pictures are the ones brave enough to make this movie, but who will they have to direct the mass chaos sure to ensure? None other than Johan Hill.

The name may sound familiar, and it should since he has been in a ton of huge movies – Superbad, Accepted, Knocked Up, Get Him to the Greek, Funny People, The Invention of Lying and on and on and on. The man has been in loads of movies and has even done some writing here and there, but The Kitchen Sink will be Hill’s big directing debut.

The Kitchen Sink was written by Oren Uziel and the screenplay was actually good enough to be included on The 2010 Black List, an annual listing of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. The screenplay was pitched as The Breakfast Club meets Zombieland. The film begins with high school kids being attacked by zombies, then, while the kids are on the run, the zombies are attacked by vampires. And just when you think it all ends there, a big bright light comes from the heavens, and all the characters realize that aliens have landed on Earth and they have to band together to fight off the extraterrestrial beings and save the planet.

Yeah… it sounds absolutely ridiculous. But, since Johan Hill is connected to the project it will no doubt be a huge success.

What do you guys think of The Kitchen Sink?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  3. I dunno. Sounds like it could be fun. A musical about a serial killer and his landlady who turns his victims into meat pies sounds too bizarre for words–but is one of the best musicals Sondheim ever made. It all depends upon the execution.

  4. but in the process, they’ve encountered the petitions from the other “undead” that feeling being ignored & left behind for such of long time, such esteemed “undead” including: werewolves, frankenstein & family, swamp-thing, blob, man-fish, mermaids, banshee, the headless horsemen and many more.
