vampire games, vampire news, and real vampires

IT is Everywhere

As it is August now, the sweltering “Dog Days” of Summer, in which old Southern folklore alleges that all snakes go blind (which has nothing to do with this article, but I thought it was interesting and hope you will too), and the movie opens in September, at the close of the season, expect to be hearing more and more about the upcoming remake of Stephen King’s IT. For example:

I never read the novel, honestly, so I can’t say much about King’s character the “Turtle”, but the novel is supposed to lean on it, I am told. The Turtle is the enemy of Pennywise, and the character also appears in the DARK TOWER series. It won’t be appearing in the movie, per se, and Director Andy Muschietti is making several changes to the story, like updating it from the 50s to the 80s. How will this go over with the diehard fans? King’s son, Joe Hill, a gifted storyteller in his own right, got to attend an advanced screening of the film and loved it, so maybe the faithful will feel the same way.

Tim Curry’s version of Pennywise put in an appearance in the latest IT trailer, albeit as a stuffed doll.

There is a whole new series of adorable Pennywise figures coming out, brought to us by Funko (I think I like the one holding the balloon the best).

Completely coincidentally, Twisty the Clown will be returning in the next season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, joining a bunch of other clowns, from the looks of it. The new season is subtitled CULT.

Lastly, will the popularity of IT lead to a new wave of creepy clown sightings and crimes, like we saw last year–and like this recent incident?
