Joe Manganiello Dishes on True Blood Season 5

Everyone has been pretty hush hush about what’s to come in Season 5 of True Blood, everyone except Joe Manganiello, who is better known as the werewolf Alcide, he hinted at all sorts of goodies that fans can expect this upcoming season. Yay Joe! Turns out that there will be many more werewolves this season! I wonder how the vamps will feel about all the new wolves in town.

“Oh my god, I can’t f—ing wait,” Manganiello gushed in a recent interview. “The fact that they’re basically busy casting an entire new pack of werewolves is unbelievable. There’s going to be like a werewolf show within the show this this year, so I’m like a kid about it!”

Some of the werewolves set to come on board are: late pack leader Marcus’ mother, Annie (played by Dale Dickey) and a sexy young she-wolf named Rikki.

“We’ve got Dale Dickey, who’s joined the cast from ‘Winter’s Bone,’ who is awesome,” Manganiello says. “I can’t wait to work with her.”

He added, “I think there’s gonna be some werewolves who are gonna give Alcide some trouble this season as well. I’m anxious to see who they’ll cast.”

We do know about one more addition, a fifty-something year old named J.D. who sounds a bit like Alcide’s never-before-seen father.

“It may not be what you expect,” teases Manganiello of the character, adding, “Alcide’s dad is in [Charlaine Harris’ fifth Sookie novel]. Whether or not he makes an appearance… well, that’s a question for [executive producer] Alan [Ball].”

As for Joe’s character Alcide, well, he teased that he knows what’s going to happen with our favorite wolf, but he wouldn’t give out details. Boo!

“I know everything that happens to my character pretty much the entire season,” he said at the GQ Men of the Year party at Chateau Marmont. “I’ve read the first two scripts. There are a lot more werewolves! There are going to be more werewolves for me to play with—some hot-chick werewolves and badass dudes.”

So it sounds like Season 5 may be more about the werewolves than the vampires. Although, the show is known to have a million storylines going on at once, so it’s possible the vampires and werewolves never mix. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

What do you think about the werewolves possibly taking over our beloved vampire show? Yay or nay?

  3. I wouldn’t mind seeing a little more werewolf action, even if the werewolves dominate the show. It might be refreshing.
