Kirkman vs Kurtzman
Because this has proven confusing to me in the past I am going to step out onto a proverbial limb and assume that it has likewise proven confusing to at least some of you. Robert Kirkman is the creator (along with artist Tony Moore) of the comic book series THE WALKING DEAD. Kirkman is an executive producer for and also wrote several episodes of the THE WALKING DEAD television series, which his comic book inspired: “Isolation”, “Vatos”, “Made to Suffer”, “After”, and “Strangers”, and he co-wrote “What Lies Ahead” and “Beside the Dying Fire”. And he made a shit-ton of money from it all.
Robert Kurtzman is a film director and makeup tech extraordinaire. He founded KNB EFX Group along with Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger. And KNB EFX Group is responsible for the zombies and other FX on THE WALKING DEAD. There’s the connection. Clear as mud? To further obfuscate the waters, Kurtzman left KNB EFX Group in 2003, well before the company went to work on THE WALKING DEAD. He, Nicotero, and Berger, by the way, all worked together “officially” for the first time on Sam Raimi’s EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN in 1987, though they had known each other for years beforehand.
WAYNE MILLER is the owner and creative director of EVIL CHEEZ PRODUCTIONS, specializing in theatrical performances and haunted attractions. He has written, produced, and directed (and occasionally acted in) over two dozen plays, most of them in the Horror and True Crime genres. He obtained a doctorate in Occult Studies from Miskatonic University and is an active paranormal investigator. Is frequently told he resembles Anton Lavey. And Ming the Merciless.
