Laying It On Thick

I have to admit, if I were about to get caught with my pants down, as the old saying goes, I’m not sure I’d be doubling down on the subterfuge. Sony is very soon going to have to put up or shut up about MORBIUS, the movie they never actually bothered to film, as it’s currently scheduled to debut at the end of January of next year—and next year is getting awfully close at this point. Yet despite there *being* no such film, Sony continues to publicize it. For example, there’s this new video where Jared Leto introduces Morbius to all the non-comics Normies out there. Leto’s use of the phrase “web of opportunities” is a clear hint that the movie will connect with all the Spider-Man movies, something any savvy fan would’ve already known considering Michael Keaton’s Vulture appears in the movie, and especially now that Venom is a part of the Spider-Man film continuity. Whatever deal Disney and Sony have now, it will involve them sharing all the prominent Spider-Man characters, which is hella exciting. Only there’s one problem: they never bothered to film MORBIUS.

Maybe they’re filming it as we speak, operating at warp speed to get it ready. I still don’t expect to see any movie called MORBIUS as early as January of next year. Maybe by *this* time next year, for a Halloween release. Provided they don’t just pull the plug on the movie altogether because the ‘Rona mutates again, which would be par for the course where this particular movie is concerned. Actually, if they postpone it again, I will just write it off altogether and won’t go see it, no matter when it comes out, just like I’ve written off the new BLACK PANTHER movie if they insist on shoehorning the homophobic, anti-trans, anti-vaxxer Letitia Wright into the role, albeit not for the same reason. There’s only so much disappointment and yanking of my chain I’m willing to tolerate.
