‘Let Me In’ Updates Including New Images

Abby and Owen meet

Of course everyone knows the American remake of ‘Let the Right One In‘ will be called ‘Let Me In‘ but there have been quite a few other updates regarding the movie so I thought I’d help get everyone up to speed.

The cast has been confirmed with Chloe Moretz playing the role of Abby, the American version of Eli and Kodi Smit-McPhee playing the role of Owen, the American version of Oskar. Other cast members include Richard Jenkins, Jimmy Pinchak, Sasha Barrese, Chris Browning, Cara Buono and Elias Koteas. If the name Chloe Moretz jumps out at you it might be because she can currently be seen as Hit Girl in the super hero movie Kick Ass. Kodi Smit-McPhee might not be as familiar to movie goers but some might recognize him from the TV mini series Nightmares and Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King that aired back in 2006.

Two movie stills have been released to date, the first being an image of Chloe Moretz as Abby and the second of Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) meeting Abby for the first time.

Instead of taking place in Blackeberg Stockholm the setting will be in the town of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Like Let the Right One In, Let Me In will still take place during the eighties to keep it as close to the original film as possible. The story revolves around Owen, a young boy who is constantly bullied and ostracized by his classmates. Owen meets a young looking girl named Abby who appears to be his age but is actually a vampire who is hundreds of years old. The two develop a friendship as Abby encourages Owen to stand up for himself.

Let Me In also marks the revival of Hammer Films who are making the movie alongside Overture Films. The second film in the works for Hammer will be the thriller ‘The Resident‘ starring Hilary Swank and Hammer‘s golden boy Christopher Lee. Let Me In is directed by Matt Reeves who also wrote the screenplay and is scheduled to be released October 01 2010.

While there is a lot of skepticism about the film I find myself looking forward to it’s release. Having Chloe Moretz as Abby is a good call, she was great as Hit Girl and it should be interesting to see Hammer Films back in action again.

  4. Now THIS sounds viable and WONDERFUL. Child vamps are the scariest to me because they are not expected. That Abby will befriend a potential meal and help him stand up for himself sounds OUTSTANDING…bring it on!
