Loki and the Vampires

You probably saw it in the headlines, if you keep up with all things geeky in your current events. Or you might have watched it for yourself, if you’ve been livestreaming the new LOKI series from Marvel and Disney. There was a throwaway reference to vampires by the Owen Wilson character. Except are there ever any throwaway lines in *any* Marvel project? Doesn’t *everything* mean something, to those astute fanboys (and girls) who dial into it? I expect this is a case of that very thing.

It’s now official Marvel canon that vampires exist. That would seem a given, since we know that the new BLADE reboot is in the works, but it’s still exciting to have it set in stone. Did the line of dialogue in LOKI offer hints of the BLADE movie with Mahershala Ali? Surely. But there is another vampire that we might theoretically be seeing before Blade makes his debut: Morbius. Granted Morbius is not a true vampire; he’s a *living* vampire. Meaning there’s nothing supernatural about him. He gained his vampiric abilities through an accident of Science. Still it isn’t inconceivable that he might get a mention in a Disney/Marvel property now that the Mouse and Sony/Marvel have worked out a character-sharing dealio. If Spider-Man can appear in movies for both companies, why not Morbius?
