Here is the official press release for LOON LAKE, the latest offering from independent director Ansel Faraj, starring David Selby and Kathryn Leigh Scott (Quentin Collins and Maggie Evans, among numerous other roles, on DARK SHADOWS):
“LOS ANGELES, California (September 26, 2019) Acclaimed independent filmmaker Ansel Faraj, the writer/director behind Doctor Mabuse and The Last Case of August T. Harrison, has partnered with Round Town Productions on Loon Lake, debuting exclusively on Amazon Video on September 26 from distributor Indie Rights. The folkhorror thriller, inspired by the legend of the “Witch of Loon Lake”, was shot entirely on location in Minnesota. Eager to escape the grief of a recent tragedy, Louis Olsen travels to southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of the small town’s alleged “witch”, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape. Weaving between past and present, truth and fiction, reality and nightmare, Loon Lake is a suspenseful and atmospheric thriller. David Selby (Dark Shadows, Falcon Crest, The Social Network) stars in a compelling dual role as 1880’s Pastor Owen Janson, the conflicted community leader torn between temptation and righteousness, and as the Pastor’s great-grandson Emery Janson, a present-day farmer who bears the burden of his forefather’s sins. Starring opposite Selby as Louis Olsen, a man driven to the brink of madness by grief, is the film’s co-writer Nathan Wilson (Will & Liz, Doctor Mabuse). Kelly Kitko (Devil’s Domain, Halloween Pussy Trap: Kill! Kill!) portrays Mary Jane Terlinden, the villager accused of witchcraft by Pastor Janson who returns to avenge her death; and Kathryn Leigh Scott (Dark Shadows, The Great Gatsby) guest stars as Pastor Janson’s resolute wife Lena. I had not heard of the Witch of Loon Lake before. Must do some googling! And this film sounds like an absolute delight for a DARK SHADOWS mark. Expect to hear more about this one in future articles.
