I called this one! With DC’s cinematic universe being such a mess—after the failure of JUSTICE LEAGUE the studio decided to scrap that iteration of its classic heroes, but WONDER WOMAN was already in the works, and then WONDER WOMAN became their biggest critical success story; and then AQUAMAN followed suit; but Matt Reeves’ upcoming THE BATMAN is not in the same continuity, and neither is Todd Phillips’ JOKER—I said that the only way they could fix it, short of scrapping everything and starting over, was with the upcoming movie starring the Flash and based on the “Flashpoint” storyline. For those unfamiliar, the Flash travels back in time to right a wrong, but by doing so it throws the timeline into chaos. There’s multiple timelines, different dimensions, etc. before everything eventually coalesces into a new reality. This would provide the perfect opportunity for DC to realign their cinematic worlds and fix any continuity issues. One plus that I wouldn’t have dared hope for, though, is Michael Keaton, the cinema’s original Batman, to put on the Batsuit again after thirty years! I swear I’m a kid again!
It’s not official yet. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but—too late! The first (and perhaps greatest) Batman is back!
