This one has parallels to another Horror flick from earlier this summer, RELIC, in that it features a house that tends to “change” when its residents aren’t looking. There are hints of the real-life Winchester Mansion in there, too. And if Kevin Bacon does end up playing Freddy Krueger, as those persistent rumors claim is to be the case, you get a glimpse of what such a portrayal from Mr. Bacon might look like. I won’t say any more about it, to avoid the risk of spoilers, but suffice it to say things sure look promising. You’ll see what I mean once you watch the movie.

YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT is a clever haunted house movie led by the powerhouse performances of its three lead actors. Kevin Bacon can do no wrong, performance-wise, and lovely Amanda Seyfried is an underrated talent, too often overlooked or dismissed because of her hotness when she possesses considerable acting chops. Perhaps the most impressive performance of the film, however, comes from little Avery Essex as the couple’s daughter. Damn, this kid is good! She comes across so natural, so real. Normie hated this one, as you would expect. Never listen to Normie. YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT is an impressive effort. There are a few gaps that the script leaves unfilled, so it doesn’t earn perfect marks. Still, it’s really good, well worth checking out.
