‘My Babysitter’s a Vampire’ Premiering this Summer on Disney Channel

Disney has finally succumbed to the vampire fever and will be giving all of their vampire-lovin’ fans something to watch this summer – My Babysitter’s a Vampire. And they’re not stopping at just a vampire movie, there’s also going to be a 13-episode TV show of the same name. It’s going to be a good summer for Disney watchers.

“Geeky 14-year old Ethan (Matthew Knight) is left to babysit his younger sister, Jane (Ella Jonas Farlinger), with his best friend Benny (Atticus Mitchell). But after Ethan inadvertently puts Jane in harm’s way, his parents hire a professional sitter, the beautiful yet mysterious 17-year-old Sarah (Vanessa Morgan) who, unbeknownst to them, is actually a fledgling vampire. When the boys discover Sarah’s secret, she enlists their help in stopping her vampire ex-boyfriend, Jesse, from taking over their town, Whitechapel. Along the way, they discover that Whitechapel holds a few secrets of its own, and that they themselves might actually even have supernatural powers. When fans of the newest vampire movie “Dusk 3” gather for its premiere, Jesse and his clan of followers plan their vengeance on Whitechapel that night, and only Sarah, Ethan and Benny can stop them from destroying their town.”

Disney Channel will debut the movie June 10 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT), with the series following June 27 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) and airing Mondays .

Now, while Disney is showcasing My Babysitter’s a Vampire, it’s not actually theirs. They recently acquired the rights to broadcast the movie and the 13-episode series. Produced by FreshTV and distributed by FremantleMedia Enterprises, the film actually premiered in Canada last fall, and the series launched there in February. But it was such a success that it has made its way to Disney. Hurray!

What do you guys think? Will you tune into My Babysitter’s a Vampire? Obviously it’s directed at younger audiences, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out. I’m curious enough to watch at least one episode.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  4. This movie looks… really like a sad attempt to create a successful vampire series.. First off, the fangs arent even in the right place.. and they look… more fake than normal. I mean really.. get more creative..
