New ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Angel’ Comics Planned
Yay! More comics! At WonderCon this past week, the Dark House Panel – Director of Publicity Jeremy Atkins, Editor Sierra Hahn, and Senior Managing Editor Scott Allie – made a series of announcements about the upcoming Joss Whedon comics, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 9, and a new Angel comic that will share its spotlight with a familiar badass Buffy character.
For all the Buffy fans, the show continues in comics! Whedon recently wrapped up a successful 40-issue Season 8 run, and will launch Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 9 in September. Joss Whedon continues as writer with Andrew Chambliss as co-writer, and Buffy Season 8 artist Georges Jeanty will return to illustrate the new series. During the panel, editor Scott Allie answered the audience questions and confirmed that both Spike and Willow will appear in the new season of Buffy. He also said that while Season 8 set up the futuristic world of Fray, he doesn’t expect a crossover in Season 9.
Now onto the upcoming Angel comic! The new Angel series is set to launch in August, but instead of a solo title, Angel will be sharing the headline with former bad girl Faith as they both head to England after the traumatic events of Season 8 in the all-new Angel and Faith #1. The new title will be written by Avengers Academy scripter Christos Gage and illustrated by Rebekah Isaacs. Both Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 9 and Angel and Faith are planned to last for twenty-five issues.
And while this has nothing to do with vampires, the Whendonites will be happy to know that Buffy and Angel aren’t the only shows getting comics, Dollhouse is too. The Dollhouse 5-issue mini comic will be released this July.
So what do you guys think of the upcoming comics? Have you read Season 8 of Buffy or any of the Angel comics?
Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
