Gritty character actor Ian McShane will serve as narrator on the forthcoming DARK SHADOWS documentary, MASTER OF DARK SHADOWS, due out sometime this April. The documentary, directed by David Gregory, will focus on series creator Dan Curtis as well as the show in general and will feature, in addition to interviews with original cast members Jonathan Frid, Lara Parker, Nancy Barrett, David Selby, James Storm, Kathryn Leigh Scott, John Karlen, Marie Wallace, Christopher Pennock, Jerry Lacy, Roger Davis, et al, interviews with the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Steele, and Alan Ball (the TRUE BLOOD television series).
Anytime we get something new related to DARK SHADOWS it’s a cause for celebration, and honestly I’m surprised this documentary hasn’t been made already, given the cult and cultural status of the series. My favorite TV show of all times, DARK SHADOWS shaped the vampire pop culture mythos that exists today. There would be no INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and most assuredly no…no, I’m not even going to mention *that” franchise…without DARK SHADOWS.
Expect lots of behind-the-scenes footage and lots of feels with this one. I can’t wait!
