There have been rumors surrounding the fourth Underworld flick, Underworld: Awakening, for quite some time now and the teaser trailer that was released a few months back didn’t answer a damn thing. But the new trailer sure has. Check out the official plot synopsis and trailer below.
“Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.”
Check out the trailer:
As we can see in the trailer, Selene has been held captive for 12 years by humans. The last time we saw her she was in the second movie with Michael Corvinus, her sexy lover and lycan and vampire hybrid. In that movie, Underworld Evolution, it ended leaving many fans to speculate whether or not Selene was pregnant with a true hybrid child. Ever since the news of the fourth Underworld came out we have been wondering if a hybrid child would play a role in the film. During casting it was leaked that there may be a child, but it hadn’t been confirmed that there will be. However, this new trailer definitely confirms that there will be.
Another goodie the trailer has revealed is that the humans know all about the lycans and the vampires and have waged a full out war against them. It also shows that the hybrid child is the key to saving them in this battle, how a child can do that, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
The rest of the trailer just shows us that the gorgeous Selene is still badass, and hot in a leather jumpsuit, even after giving birth to a hybrid baby.
Underworld: Awakening will be opening in theaters on January 20, 2012.
What do you think of the new trailer? Are you excited about the upcoming film?
