Nina Dobrev Talks About Season 3 of ‘The Vampire Diaries’

There be spoilers up ahead so if you haven’t watched the end of season 2 of The Vampire Diaries (tsk tsk) then you totally don’t want to read the rest of this post. If you have watched it (yay!) then read on (especially you Damon fans)!

The last two episodes of Vampire Diaries were BIG ones, big and incredibly depressing. Jenna is turned into a vampire, then she dies, which made me ball my eyes out. Jeremy can apparently see ghosts now, which many fans are already complaining about. I think the whole ghost thing is rad, it will definitely add something new to the storyline, depending on how much focus the show puts on it. Damon almost dies, but doesn’t. Stefan goes all bad and bloodthirsty and runs off with Klaus. Katherine runs off to who knows where and thank goodness, she was getting irritating. Caroline and Tyler get their bond on and so does Caroline and her mom. Lots of stuff went down and in the end we were left with countless questions, the biggest being – what’s going to happen with Stefan, Elena and Damon? Everyone is talking about that, even the stars of the show!

The lovely Nina Dobrev took some time out of filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower to talk to the New York Post about what she wants to see happen with Elena in season 3.

“To be completely honest, I’d love for her to smile a bit,” said Nina. “She needs to begin to have a real life again, because right now she’s consumed by chaos. There needs to be a light at the end of the tunnel. She needs to feel again, and have relationships again because everyone in her life has been suffering so much, it’s becoming an action sequence as opposed to this girl going through her life,” she added.

I’ve got to agree with Nina. Elena seriously needs a big dose of happy – before she goes insane. But that’s not all that’s been said about season 3, executive producer Julie Plec also chatted a bit on the subject of Damon and Elena’s relationship.

“[S]eason three is gonna be about exploring what it means to her, what it means to Damon, and certainly what it means to the Damon-Elena-Stefan relationship,” said Plec.

Yes, that’s super vague, but at least it’s something.

So, how excited are you about season 3 of The Vampire Diaries?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
