NOSFERATU On The Backburner

Bummer. But only a partial bummer.

Anya Taylor-Joy, who jumped onto my radar and my celebrity crush list after appearing in THE WITCH (aka THE VVITCH) a couple’a-three years ago, then delivered crackerjack performances in SPLIT and MORGAN, has revealed that Robert Eggers, writer and director of that first-mentioned film, who has expressed interest in remaking NOSFERATU, has decided to put it aside to work on THE LIGHTHOUSE, which I reported on here recently, instead.

So Robert Pattinson has bumped Graf Orlock?! Oh, HAYULL NO. Nuh-uh. Nope, nope, nope.

Actually, it’s all good. There’s still a NOSFERATU movie in the works. A DIFFERENT movie, starring Doug Jones of THE SHAPE OF WATER fame. And, the lovely Ms. Taylor-Joy tells us, Eggers still intends to make his own NOSFERATU movie. He’s just working on THE LIGHTHOUSE first. Maybe we’ll get staggered releases of NOSFERATU movies instead of having them both come out at the same time and compete with each other. That would be better, even. As for Ms. Taylor-Joy herself, she’ll be in the upcoming NEW MUTANTS movie, and the forthcoming sequel to SPLIT, entitled GLASS. So it’s not like anybody’s out of a job or anything. Not even Pattinson.
