Padding out Pattinson

As we all wait impatiently for official confirmation or denial that Robert Pattinson is going to be our new Batman, there are signs of hope that, even if this turns out to be the case—despite what every freakin’ news outlet in the world has reported, it is NOT yet a done deal—things might turn out okay. Pattinson’s new movie THE LIGHTHOUSE, written and directed by Robert Eggers the guy who effectively reinvented slow-burn Horror with THE WITCH, is reportedly receiving rave reviews at Cannes. The audiences at Cannes are notoriously tough, bordering sometimes on unfair to commercial properties, and if Pattinson sucked in the role, we would have heard about it. After TWILIGHT, Pattinson took a series of meaty roles in independent productions. He wanted to show the world that he was more than just a sparkly pseudo-vampire, that he actually does have talent. Reportedly he hates TWILIGHT and the way he has been typecast.

If they do cast Pattinson, or even if they don’t, might I suggest they use this ALIEN-esque version of the Batmobile, designed by H.R. Giger himself? That would for sure lend some gravitas to the project.
