Even though I say, cynically, that I can no longer be surprised by the human capacity for stupidity, it isn’t true. I still get surprised, every day. Five minutes spent on social media is more than enough to confirm for me that people get stupider with each passing day. Now we mustn’t confuse stupidity with ignorance. There’s nothing inherently wrong with ignorance. To be ignorant just means that there is something you don’t know, that you are lacking certain information. I am ignorant of lots of things. Algebra, for example. But what about when a person makes a deliberate choice to remain ignorant? Then it ceases to be ignorance and becomes blatant stupidity.
People see stuff on the internet. Rather than research it to see if it’s true, they will, if they *want* it to be true, repeat it as if it *is* true, when in reality it’s pure bullshit. Like I said, five minutes on social media. People in general just plain *enjoy* their stupidity for some reason.
Have you heard the juicy rumor that filming on THE BATMAN is experiencing “behind-the-scenes problems” due to Robert Pattinson’s bad behavior? It’s nice and juicy gossip, isn’t it? Is the juiciness sufficient reason for people to be repeating it? Apparently it is. Nice and juicy—and complete, 100% bullshit. The production *has* been troubled, yes, and you can even say that part of it is Pattinson’s fault. If, that is, you want to blame him for catching Covid. Any sane person would recognize that as being beyond his control. The other problems are due to the weather. Does Pattinson, vampire-like, also control the weather now? How could that be, as he isn’t a vampire, and has never, not once, not ever even *played* a vampire? (Not *really*, he hasn’t.) Don’t believe rumors, peeps. Don’t trade in bullshit.
