Real Life Vampires Who Craved Human Blood

“Under the pressure of evil spirits “The Vampire of Dusseldorf” killed at least 60 people from his community. His real name was Peter Kurten…”

Peter Kurten is a classic vampire criminal; some of these people identified with vampires, believed they were vampires, –others, may not have even realized the association between their heinous crimes and vampires, –which makes their cases even more interesting. What drove people who did not believe in, or identify with, vampires, –to behave so much like them?

Does a vampire, alone, having never heard the word or known the notion of vampirism, –realize that he is a vampire? Can there be vampires in the world by other names or associations? Why does the ingestion of blood still hold such fascination?
