Review of New Vampire Game ‘Dark Legends’

Dark Legends, a brand new vampire MMORPG, was simultaneously released on both mobile and desktop platforms this week and is already a huge hit with gamers! Hurray for badass vampire video games!

“Since time immemorial, the Vampire Nation has survived in the shadow of human civilization as a rumor and a whisper. A new light, fueled by technology and mass communication, has appeared and revealed the true existence of vampires to the world at large. Now, the Vampire Nation is desperately hunted by fearful humans that have turned to technology and the Dark Arts.

In Dark Legends, YOU rise as part of the Vampire Nation and fight to survive against a world that has turned against you! Use your supernatural strength, incredible speed, and powerful fangs to enforce your will.”

Dark Legends is a free vampire horror adventure and 3D Massively-Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). In this dark, online world you’ll fight alongside millions of players from around the world in co-op or pvp action, or if you’re like me, you can go it alone.

Here’s my break down of Dark Legends:

Gameplay 4 out of 5
This is no point and click game like majority of mobile games, you are actually exploring levels and hacking and slashing at the bad guys. It’s a real game, just minimized. The levels vary from super easy to highly challenging, which is a nice balance. The actual fighting style reminded me a LOT of BloodRayne, with the blades and the bonus moves. It really is a simplified version of BloodRayne’s battle system.

Graphics 5 out of 5
For a free mobile game the graphics in Dark Legends are highly impressive. The opening scene is absolutely stunning, as are the short cut scenes. The graphics during gameplay are also fantastic, I loved the blood splatter that bursts all over the screen. I definitely wasn’t expecting such a visually appealing game. I also really liked how you can design the look of your character – hair, face, clothes… etc. you can change whatever you like. I love me some customization options.

Story 2.5 out of 5
The story so far has been a disappointment. Everything has been pretty stereotypical and unoriginal. A zombie virus taking over the city… yeah, that has been done so SO many times already. It’s old. I would have liked to see something a little more innovative. Hopefully the coming levels will be an improvement.

Overall, Dark Legends is a fun and super addictive game. The only real issue I had with it is that it’s a giant battery vampire (see what I did there). An hour of gameplay and my cell battery was dead, not even Angry Birds kills it that quickly. But other than that it’s a highly entertaining game that I totally recommend checking out. Create a sexy vampire, kick some zombie ass, meet players from around the world and more.

Have any of you played Dark Legends yet? If so, what did you think?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
