Robert Pattinson Says He’s Too Old for More Twilight Flicks

After Summit Entertainment, the folks behind the Twilight film franchise, was bought by Lionsgate Films, stories swirled that Twilight may not be coming to an end after all. Summit previously stated that this November’s Breaking Dawn Part 2 would be the final installment of the worldwide franchise. Yet when the company was purchased, Lionsgate co-chair Rob Friedman told reporters that it was up to author Stephenie Meyer, “If she wishes to do it, we’ll be there to support her.”

In interview with LA Times, he said “I’m anticipating Breaking Dawn Part 2 being $700m-plus in worldwide box office.” They then asked him if he would like to see the series continue, he said: “It’s hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700m-plus doesn’t have ongoing value. It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is: ‘Boy I hope so.'”

Clearly this man wants more Twilight flicks, but what does the cast think?

According to reports, Robert Pattinson doesn’t feel the same way about making more Twilight movies. During an interview at the Berlin Film Festival Pattinson said that at 25-years old, he is no longer believable as a 17-year-old vampire.

“I’d be curious what Stephenie would write, but I just think I’d probably be too old. I’m already too old.”

Since the films have banked an astounding $2.5 billion at the international box office so far, it can only be assumed that the entertainment industry will find a way to prolong the Twilight craze – even without Pattinson.

If Stephenie Meyer were to write another Twilight book, and they made it into a film, how would you feel if Robert didn’t join the cast?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  1. I understand where he is coming from. Make-up can only cover so much! And who knows maybe if there is another film they might find someone better to play the part. I was never to much for Robert as Edwar anyway. But it is all a hind sight of 20-20.

    1. I agree. He didn’t work for me either, I thought Kristen Stewart fit the look of Bella perfectly (in my mind at least), but I imagined something totally different for Edward.

  5. Pattinson is twilight. They couldn’t replace him, too many people would lose interest. I do understand though Pattinson isn’t getting any younger and there is only so long a 20 something year old can play a 17 year old vampire.

  8. Well actually they don’t really use Makeup much anymore to make one appear younger… I’ve seen films to where they’ve had really old actors and they’ve both appeared young and old, and I don’t mean played by another actor who looks exactly like them. Of course perhaps they were also moisturizing.

I’ve not been following the Twilight saga, but he doesn’t look that old, heck, I’m 27 and I still look to be in high school for crying out loud!! of course, my dad is 55 and he doesn’t have any wrinkles, my mom really doesn’t either, but either way I moisturize, also I use cold water on my face instead of warm. – Oh yes here’s a example of who they made look very young, BRAD PITT in the Curious Case of Benj Button… before we saw him as being 15 years old, he looked very young, like he was new on the scene. And brad doesn’t have any wrinkles either.
