Ruminations on the New Season of WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS

Colin Robinson seemed to be acting a little out of character. Usually he is unflappable, not responding to the histrionics of his housemates. But we saw him getting testy. Why is that? I can only assume it’s setting up a storyline that will play out in future episodes. Some online gawkers are lamenting that the show has jumped the shark without the eyes of its primary creators focused 100% of the time on each episode. I very much doubt that, but Colin’s irritability seemed out of place, as did the coprophilia. There’s no connection that I can see between it and being an energy vampire.

Speaking of water skiers and the leaping over of selachimorphans, I get the feeling after viewing these first couple of episodes that they *are* going to try to put Nandor and Guillermo together as a romantic couple. My gut tells me this would be a mistake. It might constitute the Fonz meeting the Squalus for this series. I hope not, but such a radical changing of the dynamic of the relationship between two prominent characters has historically boded ill for a television series. It signified the end for XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS once they paired Xena and Gabrielle, and WHO’S THE BOSS went off the air shortly after Tony and Angela hooked up. It makes me a trifle nervous.
