Today I’m not chatting about the latest episode of True Blood or about a fangtastic new book I just read, instead I’m reaching out to all of the horror-loving vampire fans out there for Scares That Care, a wonderful non-profit organization run by a horror fan and supported by horror fans that helps children in need.
From the official Scares That Care website:
“Scares That Care!” is a not-for-profit organization that provides money, toys and other items to help sick children.
Led by horror film director and retired police officer Joe Ripple, this benefit will utilize the fan base of the horror, haunt and Halloween genres to raise funds and awareness for sick children in need. We plan to have a GREAT time holding benefits, by showing films, having silent auctions and maybe getting lucky enough to have a few celebrity appearances along the way. Our success depends upon YOU.
To date, we have raised a minimum of $10,000.00 for both the Johns Hopkins Children’s Cancer Center, and The Kennedy-Krieger Institute! Thank You All who donated!
Now, The FIGHT Continues! For 2011 we are raising money for the kids at the “Make-A-Wish” Foundation!
Won’t you please help us make a sick child’s dream come true? Come on, Horror Fans! Unite for a common cause!”
If you’re interested in helping these children you can go to the website and click the “donate” button on the right. If you can’t afford to donate cash, which is totally understand, the organization is also in need of items to auction off at their “Silent Bizarre” auctions. If you have a spare prop, cool memorabilia or just something horror related, they would love to have it to help raise money for the kids. You can also give Scares That Care some love by simply spreading the word on Twitter or Facebook. Any and all help is appreciated.
