Share Your Greatest Halloween Memories!

Today is Halloween! That magnificently terrifying night of candy, costumes and trickery! To celebrate this fangtastic day I say we reminisce about our past Halloweens. What are your best Halloween memories? What are your favorite and most memorable costumes you have worn over the years? Share in a comment below!

I have loads of Halloween memories, mostly of the costumes I have worn. When I was little I was either a pretty princess or a pretty witch… every year… princess or witch. My mom would sew me these incredible gowns for me to wear the big Halloween night – gowns that I ended up wearing everyday while playing pretend. I even forced my little brothers into the dresses. Bwhahaha (that’s what big sisters are for)!

Eventually I grew out of my uber girly princess stage and into my love for horror. First I dressed up as a werewolf for Halloween! I was around 10-years-old and I rocked that costume. I wore this oversized suit that was ripped to shreds, I had fangs, and there was werewolf fur glued all over my face. It was awesome… until it came time to take the fur off. That costume glue did not want to give, so I had to painfully rip the fur off. Not a good time. But the costume was rad either way. From then on almost all of my costumes were horror related, and you best believe there were vampire costumes in there. I’ve been a vampire for Halloween at least five times – and I wore a cape every time, because capes kick ass. I did all sorts of vampire styles too – the lovely and beautiful vamp, the monstrous and bloody vampire, and of course the classic Bela Lugosi styled vampire. Mixed in there were some other horror costumes, like an undead princess and a dead prom queen.

So many spectacular costumes! And lots of candy. I remember doing what every kid does after trick or treating – trading. And I remember the candy motherload we scored at rich people’s houses. Oh! And then there were those houses that would scare the hell out of you before they gave up the goods. So many fun memories.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  2. There were lots of different cosutmes over the years. My mom used to make them all for me when I was a kid. My favorite was when I was a Ghostbuster. LOL. I had the suit, the proton pack and everything. My mom did this thing where she made it look like I was covered in green slime. I guess that was my favorite. Being that this is vampires.com, I guess it’s only fitting that I was Dracula three times when I was a kid. As an adult I started dressing up again. I’ve been a vampire several times, and the costume gets scarier and scarier every year.

As for Halloween memories, I guess I’ll never forget my friends and I got busted for egging a house on Mischief Night. Wasn’t exactly fun, but atleast I can laugh about it now. Oh, and I will never forget this year with Hurricane Sandy pushing back Halloween to November 11th. NOT KIDDING!

I’ve always loved Halloween. From carving pumpkins, to watching Horror movies, to costumes,. etc. Next to Christmas, it’s my favorite holiday. Of course it feels like every day is Halloween for me since I love vampires and Horror so much.
