One of the biggest projects in Hollywood right now would be Twentieth Century Fox’s upcoming 3D film – Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which is based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s bestselling novel (he also wrote the movie screenplay). The flick will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Timur, Tim Burton, and Jim Lemley. The studio has already set a June 22, 2012 theater release for the movie. Other than that basic info, we haven’t heard much on the film, but news is slowly starting to trickle in, like what actors are up for the title role of the axe slinging Abe.
The actors currently testing for the big part are Adrien Brody, Timothy Olyphant, Josh Lucas, James D’Arcy, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Benjamin Walker. Most of us have absolutely no idea who most of those people are, I think Adrien Brody is the only well-known actor on the list. Luckily we have the magical tool known as IMDB.com, so here’s where we may have seen these folks before.
Adrien Brody: Winner of an Oscar for his role in The Pianist. He was also in The Village, King Kong, Splice and most recently, Predators.
Timothy Olyphant: He has actually been in a lot of big hit movies, like The Girl Next Door, Catch and Release, Live Free or Die Hard, Hitman and The Crazies.
Josh Lucas: He was in American Psycho, A Beautiful Mind, Hulk, Poseidon and Life as We Know It.
James D’Arcy: A lesser known actor with roles in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, An American Haunting, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Exorcist: The Beginning.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen: He played Damon in Going the Distance and was in Faster with Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock).
Benjamin Walker: He has been in Flags of Our Fathers, The War Boys and Coach.
There you have it, the men up for the role of Abraham Lincoln. Personally, I am gunning for Adrien Brody, there’s something about this man’s performance that I absolutely love. I think he would be great for this role. What do you think? Which of these six do you want for the part?
