SLENDER MAN Sycophant Sentenced
I caught the trailer for the upcoming SLENDER MAN movie, which has been moved from its original release date until late August, at the beginning of WINCHESTER this past weekend. (Isn’t it funny how they call them “trailers” when they come BEFORE the movie?) It looks good, but it’s impossible to get a read on it based on that alone. It could be great or it could suck, or it could fall anywhere on the spectrum in between the two extremes. I’m hoping for greatness, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Morgan Geyser, one of the two teenybopper assailants who stabbed their classmate to try to curry favor with Slender Man, despite the fact that he doesn’t exist, was sentenced to the maximum sentence, 40 years in a mental institution. “What we can’t forget is this was an attempted murder,” said presiding Judge Michael Bohren when passing sentence. Bohren stated that, in his opinion, it is quite possible that Morgan Geyser might offend again if she were allowed to run around free, or at least do harm to herself. She is where she belongs. This doesn’t mean she will serve the full four decades, though. It’s doubtful she will. But hopefully she’ll be kept where she is until she’s no longer a threat to anyone, herself included.
