Slenderman and Sandman

A verdict was reached in the Slenderman stabbing case. A jury decided that a Wisconsin tween was mentally deranged at the time she and a friend stabbed her classmate in an attempt to appease the fictitious Slenderman. The accused, Anissa Weier, may well be batshit crazy, but that doesn’t make her any less a threat to public safety. She will spend at least three years in a mental hospital following the ruling. Is three years long enough? The judge could still sentence her to a longer stretch. She could get up to 25 years.

On a separate note, there’s a new Horror movie in the works. It’s called THE SANDMAN, and it will premiere on the SyFy network on Saturday October 14th and will come out on video sometime after the first of the year. The main reason why I find THE SANDMAN an intriguing property, aside from the fact that the title character looks cool (see the above picture), is that comic book legend Stan “The Man” Lee served as a producer and advisor. How cool would it be, at this stage in his life, to see The Man reinvent himself as a Horror icon? Let’s hope THE SANDMAN lives up to its potential.

  1. I thought Anissa Weier got off lightly considering the terrible, grim nature of her crime. They definitely need to keep an eye on this one.
