I know many of you here are fans of the widely successful Southern Vampire Mysteries (also known as the Sookie Stackhouse novels), which is why I am happy to report news on the latest book in the series – Deadlocked. Charlaine Harris recently released the synopsis of Deadlocked, the twelfth and next to final Southern Vampire series book, for her beloved fans. This won’t be hitting bookstores until May 1, 2012, as for the very final book, that is slated to be published May, 2013. That’s a long long wait. But at least you no longer have to wait on the plot description for Deadlocked – check it out below!
Warning: Spoilers! If you haven’t read the earlier books, you may not want to read the plot description below.
“With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard — especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.
Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.”
Charlaine said in an interview with Fearnet that Sookie will get kidnapped (again) and that this time she’s in for a big dose of truth. Charlaine stated that she wanted to keep it more on track as a mystery.
“…It’s another extension of her adventures, moving a step forward to resolve many of the issues that are brought up in previous books. She gets kidnapped – you know, the usual mayhem. She gets kidnapped, she has to get out of it. The Fey entry into her life is pretty much wrapped up. She learns a lot more about everything really. She learns a lot in this book, the truth. So it was a challenging book to write, and I tried to keep it on track more as a mystery. But there are just so many loose ends to tie up, it’s just incredible.” Charlaine said on Deadlocked.
Are you Sookie fans excited for the next book? What are your hopes for Deadlocked?
