Teenage Mutant Ninja Vampire
I recall writing about this once before, I think. I’d learned that there was a time when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were reimagined in a toyline based on the classic Universal Monsters. I lamented that I had somehow missed it, and scoured eBay for the Count Dracula Turtle figure, to no avail.
No, it wasn’t about the toys per se, it was about the Universal Monsters appearing on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. And it was over at our sister site, werewolves.com. I googled it.
Anyway, I knew they’d released, at some point, some TMNT figures designed as the classic Monsters. And I learned that said figures weren’t available on eBay, not at a price I was willing to pay.
The other day I went to my neighborhood Walmart and, as I always do, I perused the toy aisle. What to my wondering eyes should appear? Raphael, decked out as Count Dracula! The figures had been reissued! Thank you, Playmates Toys, for releasing your “Monsters + Mutants” line! Of course I bought Raphael/Drac. Of course I’m going to have to collect them all. Which one will I buy next? I suppose it should be the werewolf figure, but I have to admit that Mummy Turtle is awfully cute.
