The ANIMATED Dead?!

I literally just finished typing an article on the forthcoming NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD II, an unofficial sequel trying to appear otherwise, and how it, despite having some of the actors from DAY OF THE DEAD appearing in it, seems like a rather blatant but perfectly legal ripoff. (Bear in mind that, as NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is not under copyright, anybody can do anything with it and it’s perfectly legal.) Now here’s news of yet another take on the classic-but-non-copyrighted film. This latter, however, has me a lot more excited. Turns out there’s going to be an ANIMATED version of the movie!

Check out the voice cast for this one: Josh Duhamel as Harry Cooper; Nancy Travis as Helen Cooper; Dulé Hill as Ben; James Roday Rodriguez as Tom; Katharine Isabelle as Barbara; Katee Sackhoff as Judy; Jimmi Simpson as Johnny; and Will Sasso as the Sheriff.

Of course the life or un-death of any animated film is the animation itself. No matter how good the story might be, or how good the cast, if the animation sucks, so will the movie. I hope for the opposite. If the animation is topnotch, we could have a new classic on our hands.
