Courtesy of Uncork’d Entertainment, Raffaele Picchio’s CURSE OF THE BLIND DEAD will be available for streaming *AND* on DVD on March 2nd! “In the 14th century, a group of Satan worshipers, the Knights Templar, are captured during a ritual and brutally murdered by the locals. Just before the execution, the Knights swear to return to haunt the village and the nearby forest. Centuries later, in a post-apocalyptic future, a man and his daughter try to survive against both the Undead Knights and a sect commanded by a mad preacher.”
Yes, friends, this one is a sequel (kinda, sorta, in spirit, anyway) to Amando de Ossorio’s BLIND DEAD movies! (There are four: TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD, RETURN OF THE BLIND DEAD, THE GHOST GALLEON, and NIGHT OF THE SEAGULLS. And Jess Franco did a softcore porno based on them, MANSION OF THE LIVING DEAD, but the less said about the latter, the better.)
I have such affection for the Blind Zombies. Can any new film possibly measure up to the canonical four films? Sure, those four were pure cheese-fests. But they’re cheese-fests that I hold as sacrosanct. The trailer looks so good, though. And a post-apocalyptic setting? Yes, please! Blind Zombies forever!
I hope this new film leads to an entire resurged franchise, a whole new slew of films starring the Blind Zombies. In the future, in the past, present day, I don’t care. Just keep them coming!
