The Cheesy Madness Returns as Blood Moon Rising Comes to Blu-ray

Back in 2009, a totally absurd and completely ridiculous grindhouse-style film was released to the public. The movie, Blood Moon Rising, is a mix of horror and comedy, with a large dash of deliberate cheesiness. Ok, not really a dash, but a mountain of cheese – lots and lots of it. The gory exploitation film not only has werewolves and vampires, but it also has pornstar legend Ron Jeremy. Yes, the man that has starred in over a thousand adult films is in this bizarre vampire movie. And finally, for those unique fans out there unable to get their hands on the hard-to-find DVD, Blood Moon Rising is coming to Blu-ray.

Official movie description:

“Since 1889 cursed lovers Tristan and Rachel have roamed the Earth looking for a way to end their misery as a vampire and werewolf. Only during an eclipsed blood moon can they see each other’s human forms renewing their love. In the year 1969 they put an end to their agony only to have it soiled by Tristan’s jealous wife and daughter of the Devil, Lucy. Back from the grave and still hot from hell, her plan goes beyond revenge. She seeks to rule Earth with the army of hell. The only person who can stop Lucy is her great-great granddaughter Sadie Hawkins. Sadie is swept into the turmoil and is soon joined by sidekick, Darrel Lee. A comic book geek and soda jerk whose been waiting for this moment all his life. As the plot thickens with werewolves, zombies and vampires, Darrel finds his element and falls in love with Sadie.

They battle the army of hell with the help from a 1969 film crew who pops into Blood Moon Rising while making a zombie flick of their own. Together they take on Captain Faust and the ghouls of hell to stop Lucy from destroying Earth.”

Exciting… huh?

Yeah, well, sadly the official Blu-ray release date has not been announced. The only word so far that it is coming at some point this year. But now you at least know it’s coming, and you can prepare.

Has anyone already seen Blood Moon Rising? Does anyone want to see it?

I haven’t seen it but I’ll embarrass myself by admitting I want to see it. On the otherhand, I couldn’t make it through Vampire Assassins because it was sooooo bad.
