The Dissing of Horror Continues

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS has been a monster hit. It will finish its box office run at close to a billion dollars, if it doesn’t exceed it. That’s billion with a B. Yet I’ve seen several “reporters” talking about how it’s a “disappointment”, quick to point out how much money SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME made and implying that the former had to make as much to be counted as successful. What utter horseshit. DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS is already the eleventh most profitable Marvel movie ever, and will soon break into the top ten. Nobody in their right mind can argue that the movie is a disappointment. But see, they can point their fingers and blame Sam Raimi. “It’s too much of a Horror movie,” they are saying. “That’s why it didn’t make any money.” Except for that nearly billion dollar—that’s billion with a B—haul. But why consider such a trivial little thing as reality when you have an agenda to push?

The snooty non-Horror types need to stop. They’re embarrassing themselves. Facts remain facts whether a person wants to believe them or not. I know these days it’s fashionable to just make up your own reality, but still. Numbers don’t lie. And money *always* talks.

Yes, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS is a Horror movie. It has demons and zombies in it. It is textbook Sam Raimi. And it’s closing in on a box office cume of a billion smackers. Deal with it.
