A couple of things are really hard for me to believe regarding the forthcoming “making of” documentary planned for BEETLEJUICE. For one thing, it boggles my mind that they need a kickstarter campaign to pay for it. Crowdfunding may be the way of the future, but c’mon, this is BEETLEJUICE we’re talking about! And the people involved with making this documentary (Adam F. Goldberg of THE GOLDBERGS is producing) are hardly amateurs. This is not just a “fan” project. Some studio ought to be underwriting this one, no questions asked.
The second thing that warps my ol’ gray matter is the fact that BEETLEJUICE came out THIRTY FLIPPIN’ YEARS AGO. Somebody’s got to be messing with me. Thirty years. That’s not possible. Maybe, MAYBE, I’d be willing to buy it if they said it had been twenty years. But not thirty. Nuh-uh.
Anyway, watch the promo trailer for the documentary here. There are some really cool prizes for the folks who pony up the cash for this one, so you might want to get in on that. It still bothers me that it’s even necessary, though.
