The Immortal Vampire

immortalityWhat is immortality? And do vampires actually possess this impervious quality? Let’s look at the facts first. What can kill a vampire? According to popular beliefs, or traditional beliefs; not necessarily all of these methods are accurate, it’s all a mater of perspective:

  • Sunlight
  • Wooden stake through the heart
  • Silver
  • Decapitation
  • Incineration
  • Garlic
  • Religious Artifacts (crosses, holy water, the host)
  • Starvation
  • Hive Concept (kill the sire, kill the offspring)

Wow, it sure seems like a lot of things can kill or injure a vampire, and yet they are credited with immortality. Immortality is defined as the concept of living in a physical or spiritual form for an infinite or inconceivably vast length of time. So if vampires can die, then are they actually immortal? Or could hey just be classified as damned hard to kill, considering all their abilities, and supernatural qualities? The concept of an immortal vampire is that since they are the dead risen, they have already died, –now that they are dead, it’s impossible to kill them, or for them to truly die, once again.

Example; you’re a vampire of the most basic sense. You can be killed by decapitation, starvation, –or prolonged denial of blood, exposure to direct sunlight, and incineration; you have severe allergies to garlic, Christian accessories, and silver. What are the chances you’ll be able to avoid these things for an infinite span of time, whether your death occurs by accident or is an act of premeditated murder? Pretty bleak. So before you set your heart on becoming a vampire, be sure to read the fine print. There are plenty of things that can disrupt your afterlife, including religious fundamentalists.
