THE LOST BOYS Is Sunk
Well, that didn’t take long. Any hopes I held out for the upcoming television series adaptation of THE LOST BOYS have come crashing down like a big mass of crashing things. It has been announced that Catherine Hardwicke will be directing the pilot episode. That’s the same Catherine Hardwicke who directed TWILIGHT. This tells us all we need to know about the direction they’re looking to take with the series. That they’re intent on plowing it nose-first into the ground, in other words.
I could have dealt with it that they are changing the storyline. I actually thought that was the right move. Instead of just copying the movie, and by necessity falling short, they *should* do something novel. And I was fine with it that they were going to swap the genders of the Frog brothers; no actresses have been cast as of yet to portray the Frog *sisters*. But hiring the director of TWILIGHT? Nuh-uh. Ain’t happenin’.
Maybe it isn’t fair to judge her by that one movie. I admit that. After all, ROBERT PATTINSON actually *can* act. Unfortunately he will forever be branded by that scarlet letter; the taint from that film will forever stain his career, as it will stain Ms. Hardwicke’s. I fear THE LOST BOYS is lost.
