As I requested, the Marvel Zombies, first depicted in animated form in an episode of the Marvel WHAT IF…? streaming series, will be getting their own standalone series. Just like the Simpsons and Tracy Ullman. (If you’re old enough to get the reference, your childhood was awesome.) “The story is set in an alternate universe where the world’s superhero population has been infected with a virus which turned them into zombies.” So reads the official spiel. Pretty sure most fans could’ve figured that out without the assist, but it’s nice that they want to be helpful.
The possibilities for story are endless. They could just retell any of the stories from any of the Marvel live-action films or streaming series, only with the Zombies, and it would be hilariously cool. Think about doing THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME, only animated, and with all the primary characters being zombies. Have a Zombie Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet, and with one snap of his finger he *restores* life to half the population of the universe. Rather than fighting to reverse this, the Marvel zombies would be thrilled to now have a world populated by former zombies to munch thereupon. (Which does beg the question of why the Zombie Avengers would be trying to stop Zombie Thanos in the first place, but, y’know, the Marvel Zombies aren’t none too smart, not any of ‘em.)
How long before we get to see that Marvel Zombies series? We don’t know. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long. The Zombies are already past their freshness date.
