The Monster Returning in PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS?
This, ahem, “news” has been divisive amongst the Dreadfuls (as the fans of PENNY DREADFUL are collectively known). Some think that the new series, PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS should maintain a clear separation from the original series. I would tend to agree to an extent, but the idea of having Rory Kinnear reprise the role of the Frankenstein Monster is most appealing to me. The Monster, along with Ethan the werewolf, was my favorite character in the original series. Kinnear’s portrayal of the Monster is one of the best in all of cinema and television, heartbreaking, thrilling, tragic and at times terrifying. I’d love to see him make a comeback, and there’s no reason why it would be implausible. The Monster is immortal. He’d still be alive and kickin’ in the 1930s.
All this being said, it’s quite likely it’s much ado about nothing, a rumor with no veracity. The only “news” site I can find reporting it is a clickbait site that will give you malware if you click on it. (Thank goodness for a good firewall!) As much as I’d love to see the Monster back in the new series, color me Penny Doubtful where this announcement is concerned.
