The trailer for the upcoming hit The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has been released! It’s actually here much sooner than expected, which is a pleasant surprise. The film is based on the first book in the worldwide bestselling series by Cassandra Clare and will be in theaters August 23, 2013. Check out the very first trailer below, as well as a description of the film.
“Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.”

Excited! To be entirely honest, I actually think this movie will be better than the book… that’s something I never thought I would say or think before. But I have read the books and was very disappointed by certain aspects of them. The story in the series is fantastic, but the author had trouble portraying the characters, they all felt hallow and unlikable. I think the actors will be able to bring life into the characters in a way the author wasn’t able to (especially with the fantastic Jonathan Rhys Meyers playing the villain).
I am also curious to see how big of a role the vampires will play in this first film. They were in the first book, but not in a big way. However, later in the series, the vampires have a huge part. There were rumors that the vampires may play into this first movie a bit more than the book it’s based on.
Any fans of the series here? What do you think of the trailer?
